There are two special days that kids always look forward to: The last day of school and the first day of school. The last day of school means it’s time for summer fun like riding bikes, swimming, and lots of backyard BBQs. Of course, no matter how much fun you have over the summer, there will come a time when you start wishing for school to start up again. Yes, even with all the homework headed their way, most kids are excited about the start of the new school year.

A lot of that excitement has to do with the ritual of shopping for back-to-school supplies. This year, GDH Law teamed up with Washington Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington to take part in a special giveaway to help local students get ready for the year ahead with backpacks and essential school supplies.

Over a hundred kids were able to get brand new backpacks full of folders, pens, colored pencils, notebooks, crayons, and more. GDH Law was proud to take part in the back-to-school giveaway that brought together the community to help make sure local students head back to class feeling prepared and supported.

“I want them to know they can do anything they want to do. There is nothing that can stop them. The sky is the limit. And I want them to have a great school year and be able to have all the gear they need,” Gwen-Marie Davis Hicks, Founder and Managing Partner, GDH Law, told NBC Washington.

GDH Law is so grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day and to help ease the burden of back-to-school shopping for local families. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it possible; it was truly awesome to give back!
