John Lewis, was the son of sharecroppers while in the height of the civil rights movement he was bloodied at Selma and across the Jim Crow South in the historic struggle for racial equality. He helped lead a march for voting rights on the Edmund Pettus Bridge for voting rights and continued to lead as a Congressman until his death on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the age of 80.
The times I met him it was so inspiring. “You have to make good trouble, necessary trouble! As a young attorney that has resonated with me. I could just sit at his feet and learn from him all day. The times we connected, I spent quality time learning from Rep. Lewis.
The times we are living in now are very turbulent. We must hang in there, VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! Get in good trouble! Get in necessary trouble! Let us continue the legacy of Rep. John Lewis. His living will not be in vain!
